Policy Declaration Page
The summary page of an insurance contract listing who and what is covered, limits, and premiums.
Overview
It shows the named insured, policy period, covered locations and vehicles, coverage parts with limits, deductibles, premiums per coverage, endorsements, and lender entries. Reading the declarations against reality each renewal catches mistakes that cost claims: the wrong mortgagee, a missing driver, dwelling limits lagging construction inflation, liability limits unchanged since youth. In commercial policies the declarations trigger coverage forms and schedules of locations and equipment. Insurers must send the page at renewal, and an annual review is the discipline agents recommend, since databases drift with home improvements, new purchases, teen licensing, and side businesses. Claims adjusters check it first, since what is not listed there is often not covered anywhere else in the stack.
