Pet Insurance
Health coverage for cats and dogs that reimburses a share of eligible veterinary bills after a deductible.
Overview
Accident and illness plans form the core product while accident only and wellness add ons handle routine care. Premiums run from about 20 dollars monthly for a young cat to well over 100 for large breed senior dogs, since insurers price on breed, age, and location. Pre existing conditions are universally excluded, which is why enrollment before problems appear matters, and hereditary breed conditions may be excluded in some legacy plans. Policies reimburse rather than pay vets directly in most cases, so owners pay up front and file claims. The market has grown past 5 million insured pets in North America, with Sweden holding the oldest tradition of coverage.
